Working with the transformative power of sigils "Jardin de Gnosis" is a series of seven drawings and texts that investigate the creative proces from an alchemical point of view. It explores the construction of meaning and consciousness through the experience of art and creation.

The first alchemical process is Calcinatio. In psychology and spirituality, calcinatio is related to the consolidation of the ego.

Each of the drawings is a sigil that represent steps in the artists path to coming into terms with their own identity and its contradictions; individual/collective, nature/nurture, conscious/unconscious. Agency and impotence is a prominent dichotomy, which manifests in a creative process that combines the the idleness of automatic drawing and the intentionality of sigil magic.

The sigil creation process follows a method that consists of three stages. Planting a seed or idea, charging or developing it and releasing it. Each drawing has its own rituals following this formula.

"Smolder" documents a sigil releasing ritual.

In the releasing of a sigil, the worldly limitations are detached from a symbol thus activating its potential power.

By documenting the process of calcinatio and replacing the seventh drawing in the series, with time based images, "Smolder" converts the representative meaning of art into actuality.
